PostSubject: An introduction to the world of Dichotomy   Thu May 29, 2008 11:58 pm

First things first: I am aware that the weblink is misspelled. It's for...character, really. ^^;; Now for the rest of this show.

Welcome, welcome, welcome to Dichotomy, a world of species at war. This website is dedicated to all of you people out there that love to roleplay with different species (humans included). As you will notice, there are several main groups you can choose to be here, as well as a miscellaneous group that will allow you to create your own specific type of creature. It is preferred that most people stick to the main species, but if your feel that your creature is truly unique and you strongly believe you should play him/her/it, then please message me and I will be glad to approve your creature.

The main groups and their descriptions are as followed:

Humans - Just your everyday, plain old human. No mutations, no powers, no mechanizing. Just weapons and guts for you my good friend. Good thing though, the government can't arrests you for what it doesn't know you have done.

Angels - Yes, it is what you think. God's darling little winged fellows are here to play. This group does not include fallen angels (those would be in the demon category). Angels have a strict behavior code as is described in their forum. There are also ranks (see forum for details). Ranks must be okay-ed by me.

Demons - This category includes fallen angels as well as all other manner of demonic forces. Possibly the most diverse group. Do have a minor code on what they are or are not allowed to do in terms of powers (described in forum).

Vampires - This category includes both the blood sucking and energy vampires. There is a hierarchy system that denotes a vampire's status according to how he/she became a vampire (see forum). Laws tends to be stricter the further down the hierarchical tree you go that are enforced by the elites. You will be able t establish your own ranking unless you want to be an aristocrat or an elite. See forum for details on submitting a plea.

Were's - include werewolves, werecats, and any other were creature. Strictly speaking, even though they share the same forum, weres of different species do not really get along and are split into different tribes with their own city/forum. Laws change between tribes and are governed by the pack leader. There is a hierarchy with these groups as well, but it is up to the players to establish. Pack leadership must be approved by me.

Spirits and the Undead - Zombies, ghosts, spirits, ect, all go in this group. No laws or rules (you're all kind of dead).

Beasts - Animals, in point blank. Talking cats, animal mutants, nagas, etc, all go here. Anarchy rules here.

Dragon - anything from the calssic European, to wyrms, to asian serpents. Dragons follow their own code, which may or may not include eating you out of irritation.

Mutants and freaks - Anyone with "powers" or non-animal mutations goes here. Laws apply as with humans with slight admendments where allowable.

Cyborgs, androids, and mechas - anyone with a mechanical part or a robot applies here. Run the same as the human laws, only with admendment where needed.

Dark Elves - demi-god characters of a dying race. They have incredible power, but are raised to use it passivly. They used to have a complicated law system, but it has fallen apart.

~All laws that are posted in the forums for different species will be randomly enforced by me as a stand in for what ever governing force your species abides by. not often enough to ruin the story, but enough to convince you to only break them when you think I'm not paying attention.~

All of the main groups also coordinate with a specific home city. This city is where the main gathering of all of that particular species will be. It is possible to visit other cities, but you must remember that, while your character is there, they will be treated according to the home city's customs/laws/beliefs/etc. So don't blame me if your human gets bitten in the vampire home city. Which brings up another point. If, in the course of the story, your creature would like to change species, say, that human getting bitten by a vampire and turning into one of them, you must notify me so I can change your home city and alter your profile.

The main cities are:

Strid - City of the humans

Areneif - City of the angels

Obsequium - City of the demons

Adustren - City of the vampires

Veksle - City of the were's

Mortuus - City of the dead

Pyuock - City of the beasts

Griof - City of the mutants and freaks (also home to any misc creatures that get created)

Tiroch - City of cyborgs, androids, and mechas

Atra Solum - City of the dark elves

Foro - City of the dragons

I have yet to come up with a map of any of these cities and I don't have an over all map of anything, so the sky's the limit on locations. There will be rough descriptions of each city posted in each coordinating forum though so roleplayers have a vague idea of what they are dwelling in.

I suppose it would be helpful to let you know that this is a fantasy roleplay (if you haven't figured it out) that takes place in a fantasy land. There is whatever technology you can think of as long as it is appropriate for what ever particular city/character is using it. Obviously Tiroch is going to be more sophisticated that Mortuus, for example. There should be a bit of a shakedown in each particular forum as to the state of technological development in each city.
