Description
Atra Solum itself is portside city, given to many plants and winding streets. The entire city seems to slope upward to the crest of a single hill. All of the buildings have softly sloping roofs, and each building as you climb uphill is consecutively higher, up to a wall that surrounds the inner city. These "common" buildings are set up this way in order to make a perfect platform to aim from in case of invasion. Standing on any roof outside the Inner City, there are no obstructions to an arrow's or gun's path; even the many bushes and trees that fill the street corners are kept trimmed to this purpose.
About midway up the hill, there is a forbidding wall several feet thick and many more so high surrounding the Inner City. Inside this wall, there are several underground areas meant for safety in case of another invasion, though a few have fallen into disuse and have begun collapsing. On the battlements, huge bronze bells are set in order to toll out warnings as they are needed.
Above the safehouses of the Inner City, there stand the extensive grounds of the Nobles and the huge semicircle that is the Library. Another wall and more shelters are within a similarly thick and tall wall surrounding the central spire that is the Sovereigns' palace and grounds.
Many of the elves prefer to live outside Atra Solum, in the smaller cities or towns whirling out from the city like spokes on a wheel, closer to Nature as the Elves' culture dictates. Because of their preference for things in their natural form, Moon Elves generally disdain using newer technologies created in Tiroch and Strid and, instead, create their own based on magic.
